For students interested in working in the highly technical and rapidly changing field of farm animal production and management, the Thompson School’s Applied Animal Science program offers dynamic instruction and hands-on learning opportunities that set us apart. Our labs and comprehensive animal facilities will introduce you to foundational knowledge in animal anatomy, physiology, nutrition, health care and housing and give you firsthand experience working with real animals, allowing you to turn knowledge into practice. You will also gain a strong understanding of business management strategies that are relevant to your chosen concentration. In addition, qualified students may transfer to the university’s four-year animal science major and obtain a bachelor’s degree in two additional years with a full-time course of study.
