Currently there is a national shortage of 7 million affordable homes for the 10 million plus low-income families living in the United States. Studies show that housing is a key factor in reducing poverty and increasing economic mobility. Increasing access to affordable housing is the best strategy for reducing childhood poverty and increasing economic mobility.
