UNH Sports and Entertainment Law Institute and the Sports and Entertainment Law Society will hosted a Zoom panel discussion titled, “Online Piracy of UFC Fights and Live Sports: The Role of Copyright Law.” The panel will feature Lawrence Epstein (Chief Operating Officer of the UFC), Debbie Spander (Founder and CEO of Insight Sports) and Ryan Vacca (Professor of Law at UNH Law). SELI Director Michael McCann will moderate. The panel will discuss how sports leagues and professional athletes curb online piracy—the illegal downloading and distribution of copyright material, a practice that takes away potential revenue from leagues and athletes—and how potential changes to the law could deter piracy and expedite efforts to stop it.
