About Muriel Robinette '74:
Muriel Robinette’s scientific career has spanned four decades and geographically from coast to coast in the United States, including time spent in academia, government and private consulting. She began her environmental career on the west coast in the late 1970’s as an assistant professor in geological engineering at the University of Idaho. She completed 4-years in New Hampshire government in the mid 80’s as Head of the Hydrogeological Investigation Unit and has spent the last 30 years as an environmental consultant in New England engineering companies, including founding her own firm, New England EnviroStrategies that she recently sold. She now practices as a Senior Consultant at GZA GeoEnvironmental based in their Bedford, NH office. Muriel’s consulting specialty is in remediation and forensic hydrogeology on projects that require expert testimony and cost allocation on CERCLA sites.
Muriel holds a bachelor’s degree in Geology from University of New Hampshire, where she was named as Alumna of the Year in 2014 from the College and Engineering and Physical Sciences. In addition, she holds a Maser’s in engineering from Washington State University and furthered her engineering studies at the University of Idaho in their Mining Engineering PhD program. She is a licensed Geologist in Maine, New Hampshire and New York, and currently Chairs the NH Board of Professional Licensing. She serves on the Board of Directors for the New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE), heads its NH Chapter and chairs its Mentorship Committee. Other volunteer activities include more than 20 years serving as a water quality monitor for the UNH Lay Lakes Monitoring Program, and member of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences (CEPS) Alumni Program and CEPS’ Dean Advisory Board.
